The home sits on 1.4 acres with a massive back yard , barbecue area and beautiful oak trees . It has five bedrooms — one used as an office and another as an exercise room — three full bathrooms and an outdoor spa . Some of the amenities of the home include impressive chandeliers , slate flooring — that Mary Ann says is very easy to care for but not so forgiving when something gets dropped on it — and wired sound throughout . One of the unique pieces in the home is a painting of the farm where Mary Ann grew up back in Nebraska .
Both John and Mary Ann are very community oriented . They are part of the St . Mary Catholic Church community ; attending mass daily and helping whenever needed . Mary Ann helps in the food room at St . Joseph ’ s on Friday afternoons . She fondly remembers working with Marge Albaugh , past director of St . Joseph ’ s and speaks highly of the work that is being done by the organization today .
John grew up in the East Bay and worked for Symantec in Cupertino ( now located in Mountain View ). Upon his retirement , he obtained a private pilot ’ s license and enjoys taking a small rental plane out of the San Martin Airport now and again . He is an avid sports fan and was a little league coach for 18 years . His home office is filled with memorabilia and trophies from those days as well as those his sons acquired during their years of playing various sports .
Although John traveled extensively while working for Symantic as their VP of Global Operations , he is looking forward to traveling with Mary Ann . They have two trips planned this year – one a cruise through the Panama Canal and the other to Alaska .
