Flower Fest
Every spring , Syngenta Flowers unveils their new products to the horticultural industry and holds a gigantic event to show experts from around the globe what ’ s new . At the end of the show , they open their doors to the public and invite them to shop right out of their greenhouses .
Funds raised at this once-ayear event are combined with other funds raised by the Gilroy Rotay Club at the Gilroy Garlic Festival Wine Tent as well as individual donations . Close to $ 100,000 a year is raised to support local youth programs .

About 165 people enjoyed the 24th Annual St . Mary School Blue & White Gala Benefit Auction on March 26 at Eagle Ridge Country Club .
The theme of the semi-formal event “ Imagine where you can go when you open a book ...” was in honor of Dr . Seuss .
The proceeds from the auction will pay for new textbooks and resources for St . Mary School students . In addition , a “ last man standing ” donation at the end of the bidding will pay for a new sound system for the school ’ s gym .
The auction , before expenses have been calculated , brought in $ 80,000 .
The emcee / auctioneer was Lissa Kreisler from KBAY radio . St . Mary School parents , family and friends bid on getaways , a home makeover , dinners , wine tours and exclusive St . Mary School items including VIP parking .
Sponsors for the auction included Melo Concrete Construction , Mafalda ’ s Bridal , Black Bear Diner West , Inc ., Presentation High School , Rachelle Lee Photography , NOR * CAL Portable Services , Kent Construction , the Watts Family , and the Broch Family .
Representative from St . Mary School , GHS Grad Night , City of Gilroy ’ s Youth Center , and Rebekah ’ s Chlidren ’ s Home Services , Community Solutions , Sportsman Chefs , St . Joseph ’ s Family Center , and DreamPower Horsemanship receive grant monies from the Gilroy Assistance League ( GALs ) at Annual Grant Luncheon held at Mama Mia ’ s .

GALs awards grants to local organizations
Proceeds from the recent “ Impressions ” Home & Garden Tour , along with the sale of the GALs Cookbook and Historic Gilroy Throw Blankets , are given away each year at the Annual Grants Awards Luncheon . This year the small group of 35 women gave over $ 13,000 to local youth and community groups .
