Tasso ’ s Old House Restaurant • 383 First Street A Gilroy landmark and local favorite since 1993 , owners Tasso and Maria Perakis greet patrons with a robust “ good to see you ” and the service is always top notch . We particularly like their wine list and having the opportunity to taste wines that we may not otherwise order because they aren ’ t familiar . John Albaugh ( J . Chris ’ s father ) loves the Calamari Steak and orders it every time we go there .
L — Veal and Aspargus ( Baron Pinot Noir )
J — Athenian Prawns ( La Crema Chardonnay )
We both love the Prawn “ Saganaki “ appetizer .

The Milias Restaurant • 7397 Monterey Street Step Back In Dine ( originally opened 1885 as a chophouse restaurant ) Gilroy ’ s newest restaurant features grilled steaks , seafood , pasta and salads . Owners Adam Sanchez and Ann Zyburra have restored much of the historical elements of the restaurant giving it a familiar , been there forever feel . We had the opportunity to sample their Grilled New York Steak served with fresh vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes . It was fantastic … can hardly wait to sample the other items on their menu . For hours : www . themiliasrestaurant . com .

Lizarran Tapas Restaurant • 7400 Monterey Street What a special place ! If you haven ’ t been there , then go . We were so happy when Joe and Gary Walton decided to make Old City Hall the home for their Spanish Tapas restaurant . The building alone is worth a visit but the food and the friendly wait staff make every visit special . There is an exotic variety of tastes available in the pintxos , tapas , paella and dinners . And , don ’ t forget the desserts .
L — Pechuga de Pollo a La Parilla ( Grilled chicken breast served with fried potatoes and green beans ) ( Rioja Antaño Crianza 2007 )
J — Salmón a la Plancha ( Grilled salmon served with sautéed bell peppers and onions ) ( Sangria )
