The Annual Gilroy Senior Citizens Ball , hosted by the Gilroy Youth Commission was held Saturday , April 24th at Christopher High School Dining Commons .
The evening included a sit down dinner , dancing to the music of the South County Swing Band and bingo . Young men from the Gilroy High Football Team provided dance partners . A King and Queen reined for the evening .
The Gilroy Youth Commission is made up of eleven middle school / high school students appointed by the City Council . Their charge is provide community service : they volunteer at the Annual Santa Breakfast & Kids Discover Arts ; they staff a Middle School Activity Night ; they created a voter registration video to recruit the younger voter ; and they adopt a family at Christmas time , provide a complete holiday meal and presents for the entire family . They also go to a State Conference for Youth Commissions , provide a Senior Appreciation Day at Wheeler Manor , and fund-raise for all of their events .
