CryoFit Asia is a health , sport recovery , and wellness centre with a focus on quality of life . Located in Kuala Lumpur , the centre brought whole body and localised cryotherapy to Malaysia in 2016 .
Cryotherapy , which literally means cold therapy , is an amazing technology with many benefits . The aim of CryoFit Asia is to get people performing and feeling better than before no matter who they are .
Cryotherapy began in Japan and is now widely used in Europe and the US but is still not well known in Malaysia . CryoFit Asia ’ s Frenchman owner , Jean Pierre Lautredoux , is working hard to make Asians more aware of its benefits .
“ We got thousands of people in the past four years to do whole body cryotherapy for various reasons . Some for sport recovery or injuries , many came for pain relief , while some others for wellness to boost their immune system and get a better sleep ,” said Jean Pierre .
A whole body cryotherapy session consists of three minutes in a cabin with temperatures reaching between -110C to -180C .
After several years of training under Professor Baranov , who ’ s done numerous studies on whole body cryotherapy over the past 26 years , Jean Pierre gained an extensive knowledge of cryotherapy . Clinical studies are numerous and have focused on the treatment of pain and inflammation from sport injuries , fibromyalgia , rheumatoid arthritis , multiple sclerosis , and skin conditions

An alternative to whole body cryotherapy is localised cryotherapy that targets smaller areas of the body suffering from inflammation and helps with post-surgical rehabilitation .
Jean Pierre is always looking to improve the centre ’ s services by bringing over new technologies from Europe and the US .
One new device for slimming does two in one . Cryo Cool Max , which is indicated for sub-dermal localised adiposities ( fat ) treatment , uses a “ hands free ” mode and programmable vacuum pressure . It includes the newest technology using thermocontrast for body contouring .
The latest service offering by CryoFit Asia is EMS Shape from
Spain . It ’ s a device that builds muscle and sculpts the body through highintensity focused electromagnetic energy . It crosses the skin and fat to stimulate the muscle , providing the ideal contractions for muscle toning and the induction of fat apoptosis or death of adipocytes . During voluntary contraction , we are able to activate around 60 percent of muscle fibers , while the supramaximal contraction caused by EMS Shape reaches 100 percent stimulation , causing a rapid depletion of glycogen reserves , a local increase in metabolism , and the use of fatty acids as energy . There can be up to 30,000 contractions per session . The treatment is also combinable with existing techniques or technology , like selective cryolipolysis , radio frequency , shock wave , and high-intensity focused ultrasound ( HIFU ).
