CHIROPRACTIC SPECIALIST CENTRE OF THE YEAR IN THE ASIA-PACIFIC

TAGS SPINE & JOINT SPECIALISTS
TAGS Spine and Joint Specialists was the first truly integrated physical medicine provider to open in Malaysia and provide tailor-made chiropractic and physiotherapy treatments for patients .
Its founder , Dr Thomas Ong , started the chiropractic business in 1997 as several individually branded clinics . Over time , he was able to slowly expand by outsourcing to expatriate chiropractors until 2014 , when local chiropractic graduates first became available from Malaysia ’ s International Medical University .
As well as being a pioneer in its field , TAGS has become well trusted in Malaysia , where it has 11 clinics nationwide . The company was acquired last year by TE Healthcare Group from Singapore .
TAGS believes it has a considerable edge over its competitors in terms of experience . Although the brand was born in 2012 , the company has been providing chiropractic healthcare in Malaysia for more than 20 years . Its goal is to train its chiropractors and retain them for the long-term , so they can consistently provide experienced and quality care to patients .
The clinics offer a wide range of treatment options , including chiropractics , physiotherapy , occupational therapy , dry needling therapy , shock wave therapy , decompression traction therapy , cold laser , ultrasound , and interferential current therapies . They also specialise

in customised knee bracing for knee osteoarthritis patients and customised foot orthotics for a range of foot conditions .
They are also able to provide patients with a full range of diagnostic tests , including x-rays , MRI , CT , DEXA bone scanning , and diagnostic ultrasound , as well as comprehensive laboratory services for screening and blood work .
TAGS ’ s chiropractors and physiotherapists continually receive up-to-date clinical training and implement new diagnostic and treatment techniques and modalities .
This relentless approach to staff training is the foundation of quality healthcare provision at TAGS , the company says . In addition to clinical training , it also places its focus on customer service training .
“ We believe that it is essential that all of our employees are fully committed to our company ’ s vision
and mission , which is ‘ transforming lives through integrative healing ’. We fully understand that our real purpose is to inspire our patients to take the necessary steps to get better . We just guide and assist them through their healing process ,” it said in a statement .
With TE now in charge , TAGS is looking at expansion opportunities in the near future , both across Malaysia and internationally . Having survived 2020 , the group feels even more confident within its brand and hopes to build on its services in 2021 . To start with , it is particularly looking forward to adding orthopaedic services to its array of clinical treatment options with the opening of a cutting edge orthopaedic hospital in Kuala Lumpur early this year .
