BreastCare Surgery is a general surgical clinic specialising in breast conditions and is helmed by Dr Tan Yah Yuen , a senior consultant general surgeon . In clinical practice for more than 20 years , she has dedicated the past 16 years to breast surgery .
Prior to starting her own private practice in 2010 , Dr Tan was a Senior Consultant at the Breast Surgery Department , KK Women ’ s and Children ’ s Hospital , Singapore . She received her training at Tan Tock Seng Hospital , Singapore General Hospital , and the National Cancer Centre in Singapore , as well as through a fellowship at the University of California San Francisco in 2004 . She received her academic qualifications from the National University of Singapore , Royal College of Surgeons ( Glasgow ), and Royal College of Surgeons ( Edinburgh ).
Dr Tan treats the entire spectrum of breast disorders including breast lumps , nipple discharge , and breast cancer . She is well published in the field of breast surgery and has received several awards for service excellence , including the EXSA Silver , Gold and Star Awards and the KKH CEO Heart Award . She has a special interest in minimally invasive biopsy procedures for the breast and sentinel lymph node dissection for breast cancer . Dr Tan is dedicated to providing patients with the best level of care for their condition and the peace of mind that they need .

The clinic ’ s team provides a range of holistic care for breast conditions , from screening , genetic counseling , diagnosis , biopsies , and surgical treatment of both benign and malignant conditions . For women with breast cancer requiring multidisciplinary care , Dr Tan collaborates with other medical colleagues to ensure that patients receive the best care for their condition . These include plastic surgeons , medical oncologists , radiation oncologists , gynaecologists , physiotherapists , occupational therapists , and dietitians . Although such individualised care may result in a longer average waiting time , patients are ensured they receive measured and considerate treatment for peace of mind .
