Event Highlight

"Looking Ahead" Winter Workshop

During the month of January GGCP hosted two classroom based workshops on tree biology and care. The final workshop in this series will be held on March 2nd. This will be a hands-on tree pruning event where interested residents will get a chance to test their pruning skills and ask questions that will encourage better tree care. See our website to sign up! All are welcome and all events are free.

The workshops focused on understanding foundational plant knowledge necessary to perform proper tree care. Our guidebook "Looking Ahead: Understanding and Caring for Your New Tree" explored topics in order from the smallest processes to the largest. We began with tree biology - roots, stems, leaves, then moved on to tree pruning and care, and ended with an overview of urban forestry. Our urban forest is an important asset to the city!
