According to an article published on M Report, Thailand’s
Manufacturing Production Index (MPI) grew 2.99% in the period
of November 2018. The handbag industry, which expanded
125.03%, was one of the top contributors of November’s MPI
due to high orders from local consumers. Furthermore, the report
also mentioned that production of textile fibers grew by 7.89%
and will continue to expand to meet overseas market demand.
Meanwhile, fabrics and apparel expanded 8.64% and 5.38% as
a result of Thailand receiving great confidence from international
brands about manufacturing.
Amidst the speculations on the future, there seems to be a signs of
intriguing movements in the garment and textile industries along the
way as forecasted by Brand Buffet. It seems that Thai consumers
are increasingly participating in fitness and sport activities resulting
in increased popularity for sportswear, fitness centers and other
products related to health and wellness. Furthermore, young
entrepreneurs have register health and wellness business with
the Ministry of Commerce, accounting for 200 – 300 companies
annually.
Although Thailand’s garment and textile industries have already
established itself as a manufacturing hub within ASEAN, its
sectors will need technologies, innovations and know-how to
achieve business growth and continuity in a rapidly changing
world in 2019. GFT and GMS, ASEAN’s most comprehensive
exhibitions for garment and textile manufacturing, will offer
opportunities for manufacturers to understand the potential of
technologies, innovations and know-hows. Whether it is the latest
addition of computerized embroidery machine or advanced print
screen solutions, manufacturers will need technologies to boost
their efficiency, creative design and product value in order to
transform their business with new competitive-edges.
