GOW 2017 Report 33 SERBIA http://www.getonlineweek.eu/serbia/ RAISING CITIZENS` AWARENESS ABOUT THE ONLINE SERVICES, INTERNET SAFETY, PROMOTION OF DIGITAL JOBS AND ENCOURAGING THE YOUTH AND THE UNEMPLOYED TO ENHANCE THEIR DIGITAL SKILLS An army of enthusiasts committed to promotion of e-skills and digital empowerment participated in GOW17 in Serbia this year. More than 6,200 citizens participated in 150 activities organised mainly by creative teachers from primary and secondary schools as well as librarians, NGO activists and professional associations throughout the country:   The youngest ones experienced their first click with the support of their older friends and teachers   Students in higher grades checked their e-skills by doing Skillage and used online applications to make the learning of different subject easier, more amusing and attractive for pupils. Coding was also promoted, and among the most prominent promoters were girls who started their academic education in this field.   A number of local partners organised workshops for teachers and psychologists related to internet safety for children, the role of schools in preventing cyber violence, presenting also different online tools and possibilities of using ICT in teaching but also raising awareness of the need to continuously develop digital skills.   Elderly, as the most digitally excluded group in Serbia, were not neglected during the campaign. Schools organised intergenerational knowledge exchange workshops where the pupils helped their grandparents and elderly neighbours to acquire basic e-skills and conquer the space of internet for the first time.
