NIC Training
Parole Board Member Jacqueline Bunn has completed the Parole Board Member training conducted by the National Institute of Corrections (NIC).
The 40 hour program assists parole board members in understanding their roles and responsibilities and includes informed decision making through evidence-based principles and practices for determining offender risk and motivation for reentry. The program emphasizes partnerships with state correctional agencies and other public/private stakeholders to increase offender success and public safety. The goal of the training is to challenge board members to review their operations, identifying ways to increase effectiveness.

Executive Director of Parole Christopher Barnett completed the Chief Executive Training Class for appointed chiefs of police and heads of law enforcement agencies at the Dr. Curtis E. McClung Training Center in Duluth, Georgia last September.
The 60 hour course, administered and provided by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP), is required by state law for all appointed heads of law enforcement agencies.
Congratulations to District Operations Manager Thomas Green as he completed firearms instructors training and best of all he was "TOP GUN"!!!
The Firearms Instructor Class at GPSTC is a 40 hour class approved by P.O.S.T. which covered marksmanship, range safety/liability, advanced shooting drills, and training new officers. As a firearms instructor the certification also allows Green to assist in the operation of the gun range during Parole in-service training (annual re-qualification of officers).
Team parole is very proud of Green and his accomplishment!
