The State Board of Pardons and Paroles supported the 24th Annual Family Violence Conference of the Georgia Commission on Family Violence in October. Parole Board Member Jacqueline Bunn is a member of the commission.

"When the Commission held its first conference twenty-four years ago there were about 100 attendees. This year's conference garnered 650 attendees from across a wide range of professionals who deal with family violence issues daily. The monumental growth of this event is a testament to the Commission's effort to bring awareness of and find positive solutions for this complex and troubling issue." - Jacqueline Bunn, Esq.

Parole also attended the Georgia Sheriffs' Association Summer Conference at Jekyll Island. Executive Director of Parole Chris Barnett provided comments to the association membership.

"Our Georgia sheriffs remain on the front line in regard to protecting our communities," stated Barnett. "Parole is in constant communications with local law enforcement including Georgia's sheriffs to ensure public safety for all Georgians. We each have a critical role in the criminal justice system and only by working together can we keep our communities safe places to live, work and raise our families," he added.

Parole also participated in the summer conferences of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Council of Georgia (PACG), the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police conference, and the fall training conference of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

"Educating stakeholders and the community about the parole enables everyone to be an active participant in the process," Barnett added.
