Community Gardens COMMUNITY GARDENS - AT A GLANCE Basic Information The Community Gardens at Prairie Green is located at the intersection of Peck Road and Bricher Road. It features 124 garden plots, with 12 plots designed for organic growers. Garden plots are open from dawn until dusk between April and October. Plots are available on a first come/first served basis. Each plot is 20 ft. x 30 ft. Gardeners are responsible for the maintenance of their garden plot. Gardens will be checked periodically for maintenance. If a garden appears to need attention, gardeners will be notified by email and phone. The Community Gardens at Prairie Green is a cooperative partnership between the Geneva Park District, City of Geneva, and Forest Preserve District of Kane County. Benefits of Community Gardens • Exposure to green space reduces stress and increases a sense of wellness • Community Gardens restore oxygen to the air and help to reduce air pollution • Community Gardens provide families and individuals without land of their own an opportunity to produce food and to share knowledge Registration Information Registration for the 2019 gardening season opens December 4, 2018. Returning Gardeners Returning gardeners have first priority to renew their contracts; they will receive the same plot from 2018. New Gardeners New gardeners will be assigned plots beginning on January 30, 2019.
