Beekeeping for Beginners
Ages 18+
8 weeks
This course will provide you with all the
information and skills needed to start and
manage your own beehive. Learn how to start
raising honeybees, seasonal management of
hives and the use of bees for pollination and
honey production. Class members will assemble
a beehive and learn how these social insects
work within the hive. The course text, First
Lessons In Beekeeping, will be available at the

program is for you! The Kane County Certified Naturalist program is a fee-based program tailored
to individuals who want to learn more about Kane County ecosystems, the preservation and
conservation of green space, and Kane County’s cultural and natural history.
The Mission of the Kane County Naturalist Program is to promote awareness and citizen stewardship
of Kane County and Illinois natural resources through science-based education and community
service. Classes are offered once a year starting in January. Fee is $250 per person.
