Peck Farm Park Nature Programs Learn from the Experts The Learn from the Experts (LFE) classes are offered in partnership with the Geneva Park District, Forest Preserve District of Kane County, and the St. Charles Park District. Beginning Beekeeping Ages 18+ 8 Classes This course will provide you with all the information and skills needed to start and manage your own beehive. Learn how to start raising honeybees, seasonal management of hives and the use of bees for pollination and honey production. Class members will assemble a beehive and learn how these social insects work within the hive. The course text, First Lessons In Beekeeping, will be available at the first class. Instructor Valerie Blaine will demonstrate the importance of bark, branches, twigs, leaf scars, and buds in tree identification. The session will begin indoors with a lecture/presentation. Weather permitting, we will then head into the woods to practice tree identification skills.
