The challenge has been that we typically had homegrown our mangers in central Florida so they were embedded into our culture as they worked their way through different front desk positions, to assistant manager and then manager. With many of our clubs now being“one-offs”in smaller, scattered markets, we have to hire managers from the outside much more frequently and at times, this can create a wide range of new challenges. The best thing we have learned is that it is okay to make a hiring mistake but you must not be afraid to correct it quickly when you do. Tell us a little about your family and personal interests: Shane: I’ve been very fortunate to be a part of this franchise and start a successful business with my best friend since childhood. The challenges that all of us feel in growing a business has delayed my family plans but I’m hopeful and moving in the right direction. It’s a good thing working out keeps me feeling younger. One of the benefits of growing our business over a wide geography has helped me to justify the purchase of a small plane. I’ve really enjoyed the challenges and freedom that flying offers and it’s not so bad to use the plane for some personal getaways either. I’m a big time Patriots fan and try to catch a game or two, especially if they are beating up on the Dolphins down here in Florida.
