“Oh, that. That wasn’t anything dangerous. Just my stomach.” admitted Mike sheepishly. “Actually, now that you mention it, I’m famished too. How about I go and get us some fruits to eat?” suggested Kevin. Mike wholeheartedly agreed. So Kevin set out to find them a decent dinner. But little did he know that it would be a long time before he returned to the time machine. You see, the cavemen who had attacked them earlier were still resting in the trees! So they were able to take Kevin, who did not know this, by surprise. As for Mike, he kept patiently sitting in the time machine, waiting for his brother to return. But as the sun set far off in the horizon, he grew worried. So he set out to search for Kevin. Fortunately for him, he saw the single caveman sitting in the tree by the light of the moon. He quietly crept up the tree and knocked the caveman out cold by hitting him in the head- hard- with a handy rock he had picked up at the base of the tree. He then climbed back up the tree to search for Kevin. It took some time but he finally saw it. The cavemen were dancing in a ring around a large bonfire. At the edge of the circle was Kevin, tied to a pole. It looked like they were going to throw him into the fire! Heart pounding, Mike jumped down. He then broke into a sprint, heading straight for the circle of cavemen. - 19 -
