The cold and snowy Siberia in Russia is the natural habitat of most of the Amur tigers . Their
population is approximately 360 in the wild , according to the IUCN ( International Union of the Conservation of Nature ). The main reason of their depletion is due to hunting and loss of habitat . In addition , poaching threatens the last of our wild tigers that number around 3,890 .
Loggerhead turtles usually live
in the waters of the Atlantic , Mediterranean or the Black sea . They were initially poached for their shells and meat . Presently , the threats have increased : people visiting the seaside harm the eggs or they are sometimes stuck in fishing nets and end up drowning .
The Bornean elephant is a
subspecies of the Asian elephant . They are mostly found in Malaysia & Indonesia . There are an estimated 1000- 1600 individuals remaining in the world . Due to demand for palm oil , forests are being cleared and this turns out to be a problem for the Bornean elephants . Also , illegal hunting for their valuable ivory is a major threat .
The giant panda is
admired around the world for its adorable features . There are fewer than 2000 individuals across the world . The significant threat to the lives of giant pandas is habitat loss . Fragmentation of forests , for the collection of timber or for industrial purposes , also remains another main reason .
