AT THE BRINK

It ’ s the sad truth that we are presently undergoing the worst time of losing innumerable species since the extinction of dinosaurs . Previously , species die-offs were mainly due to volcanic eruptions , massive earthquakes and other similar natural disturbances . Now , the major threat to animals is humans ! The world is dealing with an unprecedented spike in illegal wildlife trade , threatening to overturn decades of conservation gains .
I have been living in Bangalore for the past 12 years and the current scenario is completely different from the 5 years before . The first thing is the rise in traffic levels that has led to an increase in pollution . While discussing about this issue in class , everyone agreed to the fact that as a result of pollution , the temperature levels have tremendously gone up in the city . Next , the land that once used to be filled with trees is now just huge stretches of roads and metro rails . This suggests that deforestation have dilapidated the beauty of the city . These changes have equally affected the animals and birds too .
This is an article that will hopefully help to secure the future of the threatened animals and plants . So here ’ s a glimpse at some endangered animals that have made headlines recently .
