Biennale de Montréal
Intitulée Le Grand Balcon, l’édition 2016 de la Biennale de Montréal aborde un thème inédit : la recherche
d’un hédonisme moderne. Plus de 45 artistes et collectifs internationaux invitent par leur projet à réexaminer l’(im)possibilité d’une émancipation par le plaisir – et son urgence. A travers les divers performances,
concerts, projectionds de films et conférence, Le Grand Balcon nous exhorte à mobiliser les pleines capacités du cerveau et du corps et à affirmer le plaisir que nous devons prendre – une politique hédoniste – loin
des gratifications faciles de la consommation et de l’indifférence du (simple) savoir. I Du 19 octobre 2016

Named Le Grand Balcon (The Large Balcony), the 2016 edition of the Montreal Biennale has a unique theme : the search
of a modern hedonism. More than 45 artists and international collectives offer a new perspective on the possibility (or
impossibility) of emancipation through pleasure – and its urgent character. Through various performances, concerts,
projections of films and conferences, Le Grand Balcon urges us to mobilize the full capacity of our brains and bodies and
to affirm the pleasure we must experience – a hedonist politic – far from the easy gratifications of consumption and the
