Geneva and Zurich , the quality of life in Switzerland
Both ranked among the most expensive and pleasant cities in the world , Geneva and Zurich offer picture postcard views to visitors , between typically Swiss lakes and mountains , and economic and cultural frameworks worthy of their international status .
Geneva , at the crossroads of the world
Many multinational corporations have operations in Geneva as well as dozens of worldwide organizations , hundreds of NGOs and diplomatic missions . But despite the fact that 40 % of its population is composed of foreigners , Geneva remains a humansized cultural crossroads , perfect for walks .
Lake Geneva : The heart of Geneva is its harbour . On the right bank , the boardwalk along the Quai du Mont-Blanc leads to the Bains des Pâquis , a jetty with an exceptional view of the Jet d ’ Eau and the left bank . We enjoy both summer and winter swimming in its transparent water , and eating at La Buvette , renowned for its varied cuisine and its wintry fondue . On the left bank , we can see the English Garden and its Flower Clock , tourist attraction and symbol of Geneva ’ s watch industry . Around 6500 flowers and shrubs are used as decoration for this clock . The largest park in the city , the Parc La Grange , is famous for its view over the lake , its rose garden and its free concerts during summer . We can cross the lake in both directions on Mouettes Genevoises , these very popular boats among tourists and Genevans .
The Old Town : The Protestant Cathedral of St . Peter , which construction started in the 12th century , sits atop the old city . The brave who will climb the 157 steps of the north tower will enjoy a breathtaking view over Geneva surrounded by mountains . The
