La ville de Carthage, est un site archéologique très riche et chargé d'histoire. Située au nord-est de Tunis, la
capitale actuelle, Carthage aurait été fondée vers 814 av. J.-C. par la princesse Elissa. Voyant son pouvoir
s’étendre de plus en plus, les romains décidèrent de l’attaquer. Une fois acquise, ils détruisirent la ville et en
reconstruisirent une nouvelle, sur les vestiges de l’ancienne cité. Afin de se rendre compte de l’importance
stratégique que représentait Carthage, il faut se rendre au sommet de la colline de Byrsa, afin de contempler
l’ouverture sur la mer en contrebas. I
The famous Carthage
The city of Carthage is a very rich archaeological site, loaded with history. Located northwest of Tunis, the current capital, Carthage,
was probably founded around 814 B.C. by Princess Elissa. Her power was growing, so the Romans decided to attack. Once
conquered, they destroyed the city and built a new one in place of the former city’s vestiges. If you want to appreciate the strategic
importance of Carthage, you must go to the top of the Byrsa hill, to contemplate the opening to the sea below. I
