Zoom on the Maison de l’Image
Tunisians dreamed about it, the Maison de l’Image
did it ! A new cultural space and the first of its
kind, entirely devoted to training and spreading
photographic and image culture. Located
downtown Tunis, it is a great place for exchange
of ideas that allows to understand and promote
the eighth art in all its forms.
T
his ambitious project is the culmination of three years of work during which the co-founders of the Maison de l’Image have
made investments to create an open, mobile and interactive space. In the works since 2011, the Maison de l’Image started
with the organization of a series of training, exhibitions and meetings for professionals. Several initiatives were developed such
as an « État des lieux de la photographie » in the presence of photographers, editors and new media specialists in association
with « Africa in visu », or the setting up in partnership with the World Press Photo of a series of workshops for 24 photojournalists
and multimedia journalists from Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Libya and Algeria. The space has an area of 750 m2 in a three level
building. There are a living space, an exhibition room, a library, a professional photo studio, a bookstore, a training studio, a
