BEAUTY & GLAM PRODUCT JUNKIE SPRING CLEANING YOUR MAKEUP KIT Our product junkie, Tameka Green, knows when she’s out of space and it’s time for a major cleanup. All good things must come to an end, even that lipstick shade that was discontinued years ago that you cannot bring yourself to throw away. Since makeup does not come with an expiration date, here are a few general guidelines and tips to get your makeup kit in shape for spring. Mascara and Liquid Eyeliner – Save your eyes! These need to be replaced every three to four months. Every time you put the wand back in the tube, you add bacteria. So RESIST the urge to pump into the tube - you are not getting any extra product out of there. Grossed out by reuse of same wand? Remove the wand from the tube and use disposable wands or an eyeliner brush. Eye or Lip Lining Pencils – Pencils can last for two years or more, just by sharpening them before each use. Keeping them sharp keeps them clean. Liquid or Creme Foundation – Foundation can remain stable for up to a year if kept away from heat. Do not put your fingers or a used makeup brush into the container. Lipstick and Lip Gloss – If stored properly, lipstick can last for a year, and gloss is safe for up to six months. Powders – Bronzers, blushes and eye shadows can last up to four years as long as they do not have a shiny buildup on the sur
