Photo by Itai Shanni. http://caloosabirdclub.org/2013/11/black-greater-flamingo-spotted-in-israel/ A Melanistic Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus Pallas, 1811) was observed for the first time at the salt ponds of Umm Al-Rashrash (Eilat), southern Palestine near the Jordanian border in March 2013.
