GAZELLE MAGAZINE Volume 2, Issue 1 | Page 4

GAZELLE PUBLISHER’S NOTE As women, we put ourselves under so much pressure to be physically perfect. As I get older, I am slowly beginning to accept that my stomach may never be as firm as it was at age eighteen. And that inevitably, my skin will develop those lines and wrinkles that I find fascinating on faces of women I admire. My focus is slowly shifting from striving for physical perfection to really understanding the importance of living a healthy lifestyle and being emotionally and spiritually strong. What I love most about the women featured in this health and fitness issue is that they have made a choice to look good, while being healthy and focusing on wellness. They too continue to work on loving what they may perceive as imperfections. My hope is that when you read their stories and messages, you walk away with a renewed sense of what being healthy and fit really means. For me, it means feeling a sense of overall peace and happiness with who I am and the choices I have made. It means making good choices when it comes to nutrition, not necessarily to lose weight, but to maintain and sustain my body and mind. I struggle sometimes, but overall, one step at a time, I am on my way to a healthier me.
