DRESS UP YOUR HOME
FOR THE HOLIDAYS
By BARB FARRELL
With the holidays coming, you’ve probably already started looking for those
clothing items that only see the light of day on certain occasions. Like the black
cat Halloween scarf, the turkey cardigan you have to wear when Aunt Mary
shows up, and the Christmas bling vest that you actually love. These may put
you in a holiday mood, but what about your house? Can it stand a little holiday
spirit too?
Even if you’re not one for “decorating to the max,” you can do a quick refresh
of your home by adding touches of holiday spirit, including updating your
window treatments. Fresh new shades or blinds can make a home look like new,
and using neutral colors will allow you to change up the ambiance easily with
seasonal valances or drapery panels. For instance, honeycomb shades are a
beautiful backdrop to the holiday table setting. Adding a twinkle-light garland as
a valance (and on the chandelier) would dress up the room for a holiday party.
Sheer, floor-length curtains in a seasonal color automatically add glamour and
pizazz over blinds, shades or shutters in any room in the house, and cost very
little to change out as often as you like.
Let your new elegant window coverings set the stage for other festive
holiday refreshes:
