BEAUTY & GLAM Undo Summer Hair Damage A fter a season of fun in the sun, fall is the ideal time to undo the damage that chlorine, salt water and ultraviolet rays wreaked on your hair.  How can you easily transition your summer mane into luscious fall locks?  The hair experts at  Hotheads  share their advice on how to eliminate dryness and brittleness, while improving elasticity, bounce and shine. “Sometimes all you need is a simple trimming of rough hair edges to rejuvenate your look,” explained Michael Victor, hair stylist and co-founder of Hotheads. “But fall is also the time to re-evaluate your products, including your shampoo or conditioner. What clients often neglect is a good, deep treatment. Choose carefully depending upon the amount of damage you have. And remember that a weekly treatment should be done two to four consecutive weeks for the best results. One single treatment is usually a waste.” It is also important to take a good look at your styling tools. If you are using a comb or brush with broken or worn bristles, Victor advises getting rid of them as they could be causing further breakage if your hair is already fragile from the summer. And make sure you are using the right brush for your hair type and styling needs.   For example, Hotheads’  Grooming Paddle Plus  is a multi-purpose brush. It can be used on wet or dry hair to detangle without tearing or pain for those with sensitive scalps. It is also great for blow-drying. “Brushing will help distribute natural scalp oils throughout the hair,” Victor said. “This helps to reduce that rough look of your post-summer hair. “And regular brushing will help create microcirculation, increasing blood flow to the roots of the hair, improving its growth and quality,” he added.         SAVVY I SOPHISTICATED I SASSY 33
