LOVE & ROMANCE

MakeOut Kitchen with Tim and Ali Breitbach

By Tim Breitbach

MakeOut Kitchen started as just that : Ali and I were dating , I had a small kitchen , we both liked to cook . There was a lot of tasting , touching , intermissions , etc . That led to engagement , marriage , a baby girl to add to my son and our puppy , and a way of life that is the essence of “ M-O-K ,” as we call it .

We realized that for us - and for most adult couples - you need something to do that you both enjoy equally . For some , it could be spiritual , volunteering or climbing mountains . For us , it ’ s the joy of cooking - together .
MakeOut Kitchen has three basic tenets : proximity , collaboration and intimacy . Get close , do it together , develop a deeper , intimate bond ( and eat amazing food , to boot ).
We don ’ t claim to be chefs . We just love to cook together , and a primary part of how we approach it is to not use recipes , but rather , inspiration - at the store , the butcher shop , the farmer ’ s market or in a fridge or pantry . We get creative .
Ali is an art teacher at Reed School in Ladue , as well as an artist and fashion designer . Tim is an executive producer and filmmaker at his company , Optimal Entertainment .
