Hot Dishes for Cold Days

Eclectic ingredients do not necessarily define what ’ s hot or trendy . This is especially true during winter , a season that encourages one to hunker down with bowls or plates of comfort food , like hearty warming dishes , often based on hometown specialties or classic recipes that your grandma might have created .

Depending on your ethnicity or where you grew up , those foods could be unfamiliar to some . As an example , consider pho , the steaming Vietnamese broth bowl filled with noodles and studded with a variety of meats and veggies . Or perhaps the sight of mac ‘ n ’ cheese and platters of Southern fried chicken better defines what warming comfort should be on a cold winter ’ s night .
To fill my mid-winter plate and feed my appetite , I ’ m craving diversity . Dishes steeped in tradition and rich in flavor . Perhaps
