HEARTH & HOME Hometown News A wards season kicked off with a bang for St. Louis native Sterling K. Brown, shown here at the 2018 Golden Globes with his wife, Ryan Michelle Bathe. Brown became the first African-American man to win a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a TV Series - Drama for his role on the hit show “This is Us.” Brown grew up in Olivette, and graduated from Mary Institute and Saint Louis Country Day School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in drama from Stanford University, where he and his wife first met. He then went on to earn a master’s in fine arts degree from New York University.
