EVENT Mid-Autumn Festival is all about celebrating with family, lantern processions and sending mooncakes to friends, relatives and colleagues to express gratitude and good wishes. Traditionally, Mid-Autumn Festival marked the end of the autumn harvest and was a time to give thanks to the gods. The festival date is also associated with the lunar calendar, and moon-viewing parties are a popular way to enjoy the occasion. Since the festival is about lunar appreciation, celebrations get into full swing once the sun goes down. At night, most of the city’s main streets, particularly in Chinatown, come alive with street bazaars, cultural performances and more. Colourful lanterns are put up in many places around Singapore before the festival, and the most celebrated lantern fair is held next to the Singapore River. Although the official date of the festival is October 4, many of the festivities start before and end after this date. At Gardens by the Bay, for example, festivities including a light and sound show, art and craft activities, and a lantern display go on until October 8, while in Chinatown a mass lantern walk takes place on October 1, and street stalls stay open until October 9. www.visitsingapore.com Mid-Autumn Festival adalah sebuah perayaan bersama keluarga, prosesi lentera, dan mengirimkan kue bulan ke teman, kerabat, dan rekan kerja sebagai rasa syukur dan doa untuk harapan-harapan baik.
