Martin Vulcan

Star Trek fans might be a little disappointed
to learn that this car has nothing to do with
Mr Spock. Car enthusiasts, however, will be
titillated to know the ‘Vulcan’ moniker of
Aston Martin’s latest track-only hypercar is
instead more likely a reference to the
unbelievably loud Cold War-era bombers of
the same name. With power coming from the
company’s proprietary V12 engine developed
with Aston Martin Racing and capable of
producing 800+ hp, it’s easy to see why the
comparison to a military-grade jet bomber
was made. The engine is connected to a
magnesium torque tube and a carbon-fibre
driveshaft channelling power to a racing-spec
Xtrac six-speed sequential gearbox.
Only 24 Vulcans will be made at a price
of €1.5 million each – which is relatively steep,
considering you can drive it only on a qualified
racetrack. But the price of admission does
come with some choice perks, including:
detailed power and dynamic performance
adjustments with the Aston Martin team
based on driver preference; fully customisable
colours and interiors courtesy of Aston’s
bespoke ‘Q’ division; and a periodical series
of exclusive track-day events hosted by the
company at some of the world’s most highly
regarded race circuits for buyers to explore
their driving capabilities and the car’s true
performance potential.
