Horsehead Nebula
Due to its highly recognisable shape, the Horsehead
Nebula is one of the most famous celestial objects. A dark
nebula in the constellation of Orion, it is situated south of
Alnitak, the easternmost star of Orion’s Belt. The unusual
shape was first discovered on a photographic plate in the late
1800s. It lies about 1,500 light years from Earth and is
between two and three light years across.
Rigel and the Witch Head Nebula
The blue supergiant star Rigel is the
seventh-brightest star in the night sky and
the brightest in the constellation of Orion,
with a luminosity about 120,000 times that
of the Sun. Rigel lights up several dust clouds
in its vicinity, most notably IC2118, also known
as the Witch Head Nebula due to its shape.
This extremely faint reflection nebula lies
about 900 light years from Earth.

Kuda adalah salah satu objek kosmis yang terkenal.
Nebula gelap dalam rasi bintang Orion, nebula ini
ditemukan di selatan bintang Alnitak, bintang paling timur
di Sabuk Orion. Bentuknya yang tak biasa ini pertama kali
ditemukan pada pelat fotografi akhir tahun 1800-an. Nebula
ini berjarak 1.500 tahun cahaya dari Bumi serta berada
antara dua hingga tiga tahun cahaya.
