TURN OFF CELL PHONE BEFORE BOARDING
In accordance with government regulations, do not use
mobile phones, TV sets or radios, as these can interfere
with navigational equipment. The cabin crew will notify
you when you can or cannot use laptop computers, MP3
players, tablets and other electronic entertainment devices.
Even when your cell phone is on standby it sends out
an electromagnetic signal. This signal becomes stronger
during a voice call or text message (SMS).
Once the aircraft approaches its cruising altitude, your cell
phone will not work anyway. The plane moves so fast that
once the phone’s presence has been detected and registered
by a cell in the network, the phone is no longer within that
cell’s range. Yet if your phone is active, the electromagnetic
signals it emits could disrupt the aviation equipment,
endangering hundreds of lives.
Operating electronic equipment that interferes with aviation
navigation is punishable by imprisonment
of two years or a fine of two hundred million rupiahs.

If the accident results in damage or loss of aircraft
and property, you can be punished with imprisonment
of five years and a maximum fine of two billion five
hundred million rupiah. If an action results in permanent
disability or death, you can be liable to imprisonment
of fifteen years.

Use of a radio frequency, other than for flight activity
purposes, that interferes with aviation safety is punishable
with imprisonment of five years and a maximum fine of
one hundred million rupiah, and for a criminal act that
results in death you can be imprisoned for fifteen years
