2 Salam Garuda Indonesia SALAM GARUDA INDONESIA Pahala N. Mansury President & CEO PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. Dear valued Garuda Indonesia customers, As we enter the year 2018, on behalf of all Garuda Indonesia employees, I would like to wish a Happy New Year to all Garuda Indonesia customers. The beginning of a new year is always a great opportunity for us to strengthen our commitment to our programme and activities, building upon our achievements in the previous year. Certainly, 2017 was a significant year for us, one that supported the development plans that we continue to make within Garuda Indonesia. Towards the end of 2017, Garuda Indonesia received a number of accolades for the growth that we have been able to achieve in the many aspects of our operations. We were named Indonesia Airline of the Year for the seventh time during the Indonesia Travel and Tourism Awards (ITTA) 2017 in the air transportation category, an example of Garuda Indonesia’s consistency in providing operational excellence for all of our customers. In addition to ITTA 2017, we were also granted an Indonesia Customer Satisfaction Award (ICSA) 2017 for the 18 th time and the Top 5 Most Admired CEO award from Warta Ekonomi magazine. These awards would not have been possible without support from you, our customers, as well as all Garuda Indonesia employees. We hope these achievements will further motivate us to continue improving our operations, especially our services for customers. Meanwhile, as we continue to expand our flight network, as of December 2017 we have officially begun serving a daily non-stop Medan–Makassar route. This route also marks the company’s consistent efforts in improving connectivity between cities across Indonesia, especially with Medan being a hub for flights in western Indonesia and Makassar as a hub for flights in eastern Indonesia. Closing the year 2017, we also added three new intra-Sulawesi routes that are flown through Makassar: Makassar–Kupang, Makassar–Palopo and Luwuk–Palu with Bombardier CRJ-1000 and ATR 72-600 fleets. Moreover, we will be launching more new routes in January: Surabaya–Banjar, Denpasar–Xi’an and Denpasar–Zhengzhou. As well as opening these new routes, Garuda Indonesia also showed its support for Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism by participating in the Sail Sabang 2017 event held in Sabang, Weh Island, Aceh, and providing four extra flights connecting Medan and Sabang throughout the event from November 29 to December 1, 2017. Through actions such as these, we hope Garuda Indonesia will be able to take part in promoting the archipelago’s marine tourism to the world, especially the 10 Indonesian Priority Tourism Destinations as identified by the government. Last but not least, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all of our customers for trusting Garuda Indonesia and for your appreciation and support as we continue to aim for more growth and development in the future.
