Flux
I never shoot in black-and-white as
I find colour inspiring and invigorating.
My world is a passionately colourful
one and I love it.
I enjoy photographing the flowers, birds, insects and
squirrels in my garden – but, more often, I choose
unusual subjects indoors: water drops on a shiny DVD’s
spectrum; coloured lights in glass; ink and dye in water;
the rainbows in prisms – whatever I find that inspires me.
I am always very excited when I discover something
new to photograph that is awash with vibrant colours
– as were (quite literally!) the patterns I found in soap
bubbles. I noticed them properly for the first time
when I was washing dishes by hand in the kitchen
sink one day. I leant in closely to peer at the
multicoloured bubbles and that was it: the realisation
that here was a great new opportunity for my camera.
