The inaugural flight
of Garuda Indonesia.
1965
Garuda Indonesia launches
its first route to Europe with
Amsterdam flights.
1984
Garuda Indonesia becomes
one of the largest airlines in Asia,
operating the largest fleet of jet
planes (including the Fokker 28).
1994
Garuda Indonesia begins
operation of the biggest
wide-body aircraft of the
1990s, the Boeing 747-400.
2009
The corporate identity brand
refresh programme, undertaken
in 2009, represents an element
of the ongoing business
transformation of
Garuda Indonesia.
Garuda Indonesia introduces the
‘Garuda Indonesia Experience’
service concept and acquires new
aircraft with new livery, including
the Airbus A330-200 and Boeing
737-800NG, complete with Audio
Video on Demand (AVoD)
in-flight entertainment.
1956
Garuda Indonesia’s first
hajj flight to Mecca.
1976
Garuda Indonesia begins
operation of its first wide-body
aircraft, the DC-10.
1985
Garuda Indonesia begins using
the ‘Modern Bird Symbol’ logo,
which is still used today.
2008
Garuda Indonesia receives IATA
Operational Safety Audit (IOSA)
certification for the first time,
an internationally accredited
global certification for flight
safety and security.
2010
Garuda Indonesia is recognised
as a ‘4-Star Airline’ and ‘The
World’s Most Improved Airline’
by Skytrax.
