Another popular dish here is ikan belame, a fish soup made with a hotter blend of local spices and a twist of lime. Sri Inang Ananda Enga, known among patrons simply as ‘Mama Inang’, is the friendly proprietor of the restaurant. She tells me the secret to her slurping-ly good fish soup is her own special blend of local spices, with a fiery, tamarind-infused broth; it’s healthy and supremely delicious. The restaurant also serves us tasty seafood done right, and the dining room is a charming wood and bamboo space perched over the bay on stilts.
