182 News GARUDA INDONESIA KICKS OFF DIRECT JAKARTA–LONDON FLIGHTS Garuda Indonesia officially launched its non-stop Jakarta–London return flights in late October. “With this service, Garuda Indonesia will become the airline with the fastest, most comfortable and most efficient flight connecting Indonesia to the United Kingdom and Europe,” President & CEO of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. Pahala N. Mansury said on October 31, 2017, at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Cengkareng. Garuda Indonesia Layani Penerbangan Nonstop Jakarta–London I Gde Pitana, International Tourism Marketing Development Deputy from Indonesia’s Tourism Ministry, said the Jakarta–London direct service is a significant step in the government’s efforts to maximise visits by tourists from the United Kingdom to Indonesia. The British Ambassador to Indonesia, Moazzam Malik, echoed these views, saying the Jakarta–London direct flight is sure to have a positive impact on travel trends in both nations. Duta Besar Inggris untuk Indonesia Moazzam Malik pun meyakini, layanan penerbangan nonstop Jakarta–London akan membawa pengaruh positif untuk tren travelling kedua negara. GARUDA INDONESIA AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS FOR PILOT TRAINING AND AIRLINE BUSINESS PROGRAMMES will finance the advanced Type Rating education programme. Flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has accepted four pilot candidates and 132 other participants for its Airline Business training programme at the Garuda Indonesia Training Centre (GITC), Duri Kosambi, West Jakarta, as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme. Awardees of the airline’s pilot training programme hail from Papua, Aceh, Central Java and Yogyakarta, while the other 132 awardees in the Airline Ground Staff programme come from various provinces across Indonesia. This Pilot Programme is part of an educational partnership between provincial governments in each of these provinces and Garuda Indonesia. Each provincial government will finance the initial education, while Garuda Indonesia CSR “Through this scholarship, we aim to educate Indonesia’s young generation – especially those from less fortunate families – in sharing knowledge about the aviation industry, so as to produce human resources that are of high quality and are ready to work in the aviation industry,” Vice President of Learning & Development of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. Garuda Indonesia has consistently carried out a variety of Social Responsibility programmes and Community Development Partnership programmes in the fields of economy, society and the environment. Garuda Indonesia Didik Empat Calon Pilot dan 132 Ahli Airline Business Maskapai nasional Garuda Indonesia, melalui program Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), mendidik empat calon pilot dan melantik 132 lulusan program pelatihan Airline Business di Garuda Indonesia Training Centre (GITC) Duri Kosambi, Jakarta Barat. Program Pilot diikuti oleh empat orang dari Papua, Aceh, Jawa Tengah dan Yogyakarta. Program Airline Ground Staff diikuti oleh 132 orang dari berbagai provinsi di Indonesia. Program Pilot merupakan hasil kerja sama pendidikan dengan Pemda di keempat provinsi tersebut. Pendidikan initial dibiayai oleh Pemda setempat, sementara sekolah lanjutan Type Rating dibiayai oleh program CSR Garuda Indonesia.
