News 159 GARUDA INDONESIA HOLDS SEMINAR ON FOSTERING INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS GARUDA INDONESIA MAXIMISES SOUTH JAVA FLIGHT ROUTE National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has proposed a shortening of the southern flight route for Java Island to improve flight time efficiency for the route, while reducing flight frequency on the island’s northern flight route. Java’s northern route is notably busier than its southern counterpart, which demands an additional six minutes of flight time as well as more fuel, according to Operational Director at PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. Capt. Triyanto Moeharsono. According to Capt. Triyanto, Garuda Indonesia has previously utilised its Jakarta–Bali flight to test the southern route, and results show the airline completing the route in 1 hour and 34 minutes, slightly longer than the northern route’s 1 hour and 28 minutes’ flight time. Capt. Triyanto shared this information during a speaking engagement in a seminar titled ‘Indonesian Flight Navigation Management’ at Novotel Hotel in Tangerang on March 1, 2018. Head of the Ministry of Transportation’s Flight Navigation Operation Sub-Directorate M. Hasan Bashory echoed Triyanto’s statements, saying the flight time on the southern route – known as Tango 1 or T1 – is slightly longer than that of the northern Java route – known as Whiskey Four Five (W45) – due to the difference in flight distance. However, Hasan noted that opening the southern route for commercial flights would be a solution to minimising flight traffic in northern Java. Garuda Indonesia Memaksimalkan Jalur Penerbangan Selatan Jawa Garuda Indonesia mengusulkan pemendekan jalur penerbangan selatan Pulau Jawa. Usulan ini diharapkan mampu memaksimalkan efisiensi waktu penerbangan di jalur selatan sekaligus mengurangi pergerakan di jalur utara Jawa. Jalur utara Jawa lebih padat dan ramai dibanding jalur selatan. Sementara sekarang ini untuk menempuh jalur selatan dari arah utara, menurut Direktur Operasi PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk., Capt. Triyanto Moeharsono, “Waktu penerbangan bertambah enam menit. Avtur yang dibutuhkan juga lebih banyak.” Triyanto mengaku Garuda Indonesia telah menguji coba jalur selatan lewat penerbangan dari Jakarta ke Bali. Hasilnya, waktu tempuh tercatat 1 jam 34 menit. Sedangkan dari Jakarta ke Bali melalui jalur utara hanya butuh 1 jam 28 menit. Pernyataannya tersampaikan saat menjadi salah satu pembicara dalam seminar penerbangan bertajuk “Pengelolaan Navigasi Penerbangan Indonesia” di Hotel Novotel, Tangerang pada 1 Maret 2018. Kepala Sub-Direktorat Operasi Navigasi Penerbangan Kementerian Perhubungan, M. Hasan Bashory, membenarkan pernyataan Triyanto. Menurut Hasan, waktu tempuh di rute selatan—yang dikenal dengan Tango 1 atau T1—lebih lama dibanding jalur utara Jawa atau Whiskey Four Five (W45), lantaran terdapat perbedaan jarak tempuh. Hasan menjelaskan, pembukaan jalur selatan untuk penerbangan sipil merupakan solusi guna mengurangi kepadatan lalu lintas penerbangan di utara Jawa.
