handful of MJHL spring camps, including the Winkler Flyers. Brycen plays for the MacDonald Lightning Novice club and is just loving every minute of playing and following his favorite NHL team, the Winnipeg Jets. We’ve been all over Western Canada and throughout Minnesota for hockey, so our family has a lot of memories through hockey. It’s become especially fun to watch our two older boys as they’ve moved into higher levels of the game F or Tim and Michelle Muys, hockey is, “exhausting, expen- sive, and a lot of fun.” With three boys in the game – and yes, Tim himself still plays – the Muys Family has always travelled to hockey games, tour- naments, camps and tryouts, “as a family.” This is the perfect example of the family that plays together, stays together. “We’ve been all over Western Canada and throughout Minnesota for hockey,” said Tim, the founder, owner and President of Green Blade Lawn Care. “So our family has a lot of memories through hockey. It’s become especially fun to watch our two older boys as they’ve moved into higher levels of the game. The speed and inten- sity is great and it’s also interesting to watch the level of training and nutrition they’re getting into. “It’s also a real treat to watch our older boys coaching our young- est son and it’s a real privilege to have other coaches asking them to help coach young teams.” Tim and Michelle Muys have good reason to be proud of their three hockey playing boys – Declan, 17, Cole, 15 and Brycen, 8. And of course, 12-year-old daughter Gabrielle. Despite the normal setbacks that all young players receive during the course of their playing days, all three have turned their passion and love for the game into patience and perseverance. This season, Declan spent a season with the Junior C St. Adolphe Hawks in order to get plenty of ice time to prepare for a number of MJHL spring camps. Cole, a goaltender, took an entire season off in order to train with Eli Wilson and Andy Kollar at the Icelab at MTS Iceplex. He’s off to POE in Kelowna in April and will also attend a “There are times when it’s been tough to go to the rink and times when it’s been extremely gratifying,” Tim said. “As we watch our kids grow in hockey, we find ourselves enjoying being at the rink more and more. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that our two older boys are beginning to transcend the petty politics that go on with local hockey. (continued on Page 74)
