EDITOR’S NOTE CREDITS IT’S PLAYOFF TIME This is the best time of the hockey season. It’s the time when every shift matters. Not just every game or every period, but every shift. This is the time of year when rinks all over Manitoba are jammed packed with fans and the hockey is as exciting as it can possibly be. We’ve been fortunate, here at Game On, Manitoba’s Hockey Magazine, to have been out to a load of these great post-season games. We’ve seen the Selkirk-Peguis opening series in the Keystone Jr. B Hockey League, the Blues-OCN Manitoba Junior Hockey League quarterfinal (those two games at MTS Iceplex were tremendously exciting) and a handful of MMJHL games from Stonewall-St. Vital to the Raiders-St. James. We’ve also taken in the St. Mary’s Academy Prep School Tourna- ment known as The World Sport School Hockey Challenge. We were at the Manitoba Women’s Junior Hockey League final and we saw a great series between the Wild and the Eastman Selects in the semifi- nals of the Manitoba Provincial Triple A Midget Hockey League. Game On is Manitoba’s hockey magazine. This is where hockey fans will meet the stars of the game here in Manitoba and where our goal is to pay tribute to those who make hockey this province’s most beloved sport. Published by Game On Manitoba Inc., this publication is edited by Scott Taylor and is designed and developed by Scott Taylor and Ken Waterman. Game On Magazine is printed by Quantum Graphics. We haven’t seen a bad game yet. In fact, we haven’t seen many bad shifts. We’re lucky here in Manitoba. The hockey that’s played here – no matter the level – is as good as anything else, anywhere else in Cana- da. Think about it, we have 10 male players headed to NCAA Division 1 university programs next year and just as many women. We’ll have even more players in the WHL next season – there were 76 on rosters at the start of the 2016-17 campaign. We’ll have a handful of NHL draft picks, including the man tabbed to be No. 1, Nolan Patrick of the Brandon Wheat Kings, and even more in the WHL Bantam Draft, including the young man tabbed to be the second overall pick, Seth Jarvis. This is the best time of the year to be a hockey fan. Not just an NHL fan, but a fan of the game itself. I mean it when I say, during the next couple of months, Game On Magazine will see you at the rink. .
