Brett Davis Loving Dallas as he Returns to Kootenay
Oakbank ’ s Brett Davis is back with the Western Hockey League ’ s Kootenay Ice , but his heart is probably in Dallas , Texas . When we caught up to Davis at NRG ( Seven Oaks Sportsplex ) this summer , he was still fired up about his experience at Dallas Stars Development Camp in July . “ I was told that getting drafted was a 50-50 kind of thing ,” Davis said . “ I wasn ’ t stressing too much over it because I knew that if I wasn ’ t going to be drafted , it wouldn ’ t be the end of the road .” Davis is called “ a jack-of-all-trades forward that can play center and wing ,” by a number of NHL and WHL scouts . “ He has excellent skating acceleration and a solid top speed ,” said NHL Central Scouting . “ And he can produce points as both a finisher and a playmaker .”
After attending the Devlopment Camp in Dallas , he ’ s fired up about a potential future as a professional .
“ I can ’ t really put it into words ,” he said after seeing his name on the NHL Network live feed . “ It was pretty amazing with my family watching . My mom and dad and my two brothers were with me and my mom got a little emotional – it was amazing .”
Drafted by the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the 4th round of the WHL Bantam Draft ( 78th overall ) in 2014 . Traded from Lethbridge to Kootenay on Jan 2017
