How they

vacations
Jett Woo competed
at the Ivan Hlinka
Memorial Tournament
in Czech Republic

Winnipeg’s Jett Woo and
Brandon’s Calen Addison
were named to the U-18 Team
Canada, which competed at
the Ivan Hlinka Memorial
Tournament in Czech Republic
in early August.
And then they went off and
won the gold medal.
Both players were
outstanding on defense at the
tournament and both were
highly-regarded by NHL scouts.
Woo wore the A for Canada
while Addison picked up an
assist in Team Canada’s 4-1 win
over Czech Republic in the gold
medal final. It’s very likely both
players raised their stock with
NHL teams heading into their
draft year in 2017-18.
In total, Hockey Canada
invited 13 Manitoba players
to its three summer male
hockey camps – for the U-17
team, the U-18 team and the
National Junior Team.
Beginning back on July
22, 111 players assembled
in Calgary for the national
under-17 development camp.
As they wound down their on-
and off-ice sessions, a group of
44 players – four goaltenders,
16 defensemen, and 24
forwards – were invited
to win a spot on Canada’s
National Men’s Summer
Under-18 Team. Canada’s
National Men’s Summer
Under-18 Team left on Aug. 2
to compete at the 2017 Ivan
Hlinka Memorial Cup.
Meanwhile, 42 prospects
looking to earn an invitation
to the National Junior Team
selection camp in December
were invited to Plymouth,
Mich., for the Summer
Development Camp. Among
the invitees were four
goaltenders, 13 defensemen,
and 25 forwards. Manitoba’s
invitees were as follows:
