lessons, academy sessions,
and camps in Winnipeg. The
elder Oswald now serves as the
Head Goaltending Consultant
at GDI Goaltending in Calgary.
Although Halle credits much
of her success to the help of
her brother, she knows that it
is truly a full team effort.
“It definitely started with
my brother, but I obviously
couldn’t get to where I am
without the support of my
parents,” she said. “They knew
that I was going to be into it
right away just by watching
me. They put me into hockey
as soon as they could. My dad
actually made a little rink and
shooting pad in our backyard,
so my dad, brother and I would
go out there and shoot around
for practice all the time.
“My mom always managed
my teams, making sure we
played the best competition so
I could develop and get better
each and every game.”
Apparently the extra ice-
time and the outstanding
competition helped immensely
with Oswald’s development.
This past season, the starting
goaltender for the Hawks went
36-12-2-3 in 54 appearances,
