After all, it took him a while to make the Winnipeg Blues, it took him a while to play and it took him a long while to get back into the game of hockey. But here he is. After spending most of his post- pro hockey career as a Sales Manager with the brands division of Sherwin-Williams, Strome is now the Director, Player and Alumni Relations for True North Sports and Entertainment. It’s a new job, a job he’ll essentially create in his own image and a job that presents some exciting opportunities. “In terms of players, I work with both the Jets and Moose,” he explained. “But one of my first assignments is to work closely with our Jets alumni. The guys have been running their own organization for a number of years – Jordy Douglas and his group – and we’ve had plenty of positive conversations about joining forces under the True North umbrella. “We’re still working through the infrastructure and we’ve been researching how other Alumni Associations work throughout the NHL. It’s great to have the support of Jordy and the local group to help us move forward with the formation of the Winnipeg Jets Alumni and Friends association.” The friends part is quite interesting. As anyone who has followed hockey for any length of time knows, Winnipeg has turned out a load of pro hockey players who never played with
