IT’S IMPOSSIBLE TO SAY that
Justin Hamonic loves the
game of hockey more than
any other player. However,
it would be fair to say he
enjoys it more than most.
After all, he’s certainly not
in it for the money. He’s a
pro, but he’s an ECHL pro.
In fact, since his final season
with the Western Hockey
League’s Tri-City Americans,
this former member of the City
Midget Winnipeg Monarchs
and Provincial Triple A Midget
Winnipeg Wild has played
for five ECHL teams in some
part or all of four seasons.
“It’s my fourth East Coast
League team in three years,”
he said. “Fort Wayne and San
Antonio in my first full year
as a pro pro and then San
Antonio and Colorado last year.
“You just have to keep it in
perspective and think about
what people would give to have
the opportunity I’m getting
now to play pro hockey. So
you just have to keep that
perspective. Keep working
every day to get that edge and
eventually make the jump to
the next level. I believe I’m
pretty close, but it’s just some
little things that have kept me
from getting to the AH L.
