detail is very challenging and is something I really enjoy,” he said. “You’re working with designers who pay big money for a high end product so they expect the very best.” Meanwhile, on the ice, Dawson credits his current coaches with a lot of his development while his midget coach Tim Rothwell really impacted him in terms of team play, developing as a player, but most importantly as a person. “I learned a lot from Coach Rothwell,” he said. “He not only tried to make good hockey players out of us, but he worked hard to make us good people and emphasized strong character. That was, and still is, important to me. “The things I’ve learned from hockey that will help me in life include the idea that good things just don’t happen or come easy. You’ve got to work, work, work and when things don’t go your way you’ve got get back up and keep going.” Dawson credits his parents for giving him the opportunity to play at the Triple AAA level and credits them for pushing him to keep fighting through thick and thin. His parents were always involved from cheering, managing the team and of course paying the fees that organized hockey demands. YOUR MOM IS FROM ENGLAND. HAS THAT BEEN AN INFLUENCE IN YOUR LIFE? Yes. I’ve visited my grandparents there three or four times. I really like my grandfather David Clark. I recall killing penalties against him and the way he could see the ice and direct the play was unbelievable.” WHO CRACKS YOU UP Our goalie, Hunter Ploszay, is the funniest guy on the team.
