The Moose at Harvest
As millions of people began making
their new year’s resolutions and putting
plans for these new commitments into
action, the Manitoba Moose were busy
sticking to a resolution of their own: To
continue giving back to the community.
The lead up to the new year -- as well
as the first days of 2018 -- was a busy
stretch for Moose community initiatives,
as two of their larger programs of the
season were executed.
MOOSE SCORE BIG
WITH FOOD DRIVE
The Manitoba Moose kicked off the
New Year’s Eve Celebrations early this
season by hosting their annual Shut
Out Hunger food drive during their
matinee game on December 31st. Fans
attending the game had an opportunity
to donate a non-perishable food item
as they entered Bell MTS Place. This
year, the Moose partnered with the
Manitoba Association of Food Banks and
Winnipeg Harvest as joint beneficiaries
from the food drive, in an effort to
support food banks both in Winnipeg

and across the province of Manitoba.
In an exceptional display of generosity
from the fans, more than 2,100 pounds
of food was collected and an additional
$850 was received through in-kind
monetary donations. The amount of food
collected this year was more than double
of that which was received during the
Shut Out Hunger game last year. This
outstanding result from the Shut Out
Hunger game was only possible because
of the support of the fans, so thank you
to everyone who contributed to this year’s
Shut Out Hunger food drive initiative!
